INTERACT CLEVELAND'S HOMELESS STAND DOWN
Every year InterAct Cleveland runs an event called the Homeless Stand Down (HSD), which serves literally thousands of our neighbors who have fallen on hard times. More than a mere soup kitchen, the HSD is nourishing to body and soul of both guests and volunteers. Guests receive hot food, bus passes, hair cuts, massage and Reiki, health screenings, entertainment and much, much more. Volunteers receive a surprising amount of joy and a rare opportunity to open mind and heart. (Believe me, I did it last year and it was truly a unique experience)
Please awaken your compassionate heart and volunteer for this event.
All volunteers are required to attend one volunteer training day. I will be there on Saturday February 20th from 10am-Noon. You can join me that day or choose another day, if you like. Just choose one and become part of something great!

COME TO FRANCE NEXT SUMMER...
Summer 2010 turns out to be the perfect time to make a pilgrimage to our center in France. (It truly is a pilgrimage as so many great masters--including the Dalai Lama, Kyabje Dudjom Rinpoche, Sakya Trinzin, HH Penor Rinpoche, Kalu Rinpoche, the Karmapa and more--gave teachings there, making it a very blessed place.)

What makes next year so special is that His Holiness Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche's incarnation is coming back to our center in France for the first time. HH Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche was one of the greatest masters of the last century and spent many years coming to France and leading our sangha there.

The Khyentse Yangsi Rinpoche is currently 16 years old.
This will also be a good chance to meet Tulku Rinpoche and
to see Jigme Khyentse Rinpoche again as well. In addition, several other great masters are expected to arrive around the same time.
The dates for Khyentse Yangsi Rinpoche's visit are July 12-16. I have already found a house for us to rent and we will need to rent a car as well. There will be literally hundreds of people coming for this event. I need to know how many of you are planning to come so I can make all the arrangements in time.
The probable dates for the trip would be from July 7-21 (two weeks). This will give you enough time to spend a few days in Paris sightseeing and also some time in the Dordogne for touring around. It's very beautiful and there are lots of castles to see, as well as prehistoric caves, etc. (If you want to stay shorter or longer, you certainly can.
I will be there well before and for at least a month after Khyentse Yangsi Rinpoche's visit.)
We can make a day trip over to Plum Village to see Thich Naht Hanh. It's a pretty short drive (90 minutes), so we could easily go and come back on the same day.
The entire trip would likely cost around $2,000-3,000 including airfare, train to and from Paris, cost of housing, hotel, food, car rental and teachings (the least of these expenses).
DEADLINES:
Final confirmation will be necessary by February 2010. We will buy the plane tickets and make hotel reservations and a final reservation for the house at this time.
*Also, please let me know if you speak French.
If it is at all possible for you to make this journey, I really recommend doing so.
If not though, don't worry. You can also see the Khyentse Yangsi Rinpoche in America and we are sure to receive more Lama visits in Cleveland in the near future.
